At the time of writing, Eagle Mountain shares are down 3.86% to $1.12 per share.

Eagle Mountain is engaged in the exploration and evaluation of copper, gold, silver, and porphyry copper deposits. Its project portfolios include Silver Mountain and Oracle Ridge across Australia and the United States.

Presentation highlights

The Eagle Mountain share price is failing to respond despite the company honing in on two of its most recent updates. It has moved to 100% ownership of its Oracle Ridge mine after strong recent results in the region sent the Eagle Mountain share price rocketing 12%. The company also revealed its plans to increase its mining operation drilling rates three-fold over the coming quarter.

Eagle Mountain is currently working along four kilometres of mapped and sampled mineralisation in its Leatherwood contact, as part of the Oracle Ridge mine. The company was also bullish about its prospects for the next quarter, saying it has "good credentials to potentially be a low emission mining operation".

It has an existing underground mine with 18 kilometres of development and extensive local infrastructure within a tier-one mining jurisdiction of Arizona in the US. The release noted that Arizona was recently named the second-most lucrative mining region in the world in investment attractiveness.

The company also reported strong drilling results since September 2020. It's raised $11 million since February 2021 to fund its drilling operations during 2021, with the company expecting to leverage record high copper prices over the coming months. The copper price is now more than double what it was in January 2020.

Eagle Mountain share price snapshot

Including today, the Eagle Mountain share price has now been tumbling for three days. These losses have, however, been partially mitigated by the company's huge gains recently. It's still up almost 11% over the past week and around 65% over the past month.

That's an increase of around 34% in the past week.

Eagle Mountain is a mining company exploring for copper, gold, silver, and porphyry copper deposits across Australia and the United States. Let's take a look at the company's latest news.

Quarter highlights

Eagle Mountain's quarterly highlights revolve around its Oracle Ridge copper project, where the company has found "multiple high-grade mineralised samples" across a 4 km stretch.

According to Eagle Mountain, its gold and copper drilling assays have shown an area of high-grade mineralisation along the project's southern Leatherwood contact. Mineralisation deposits recorded include 12.7 metres at 3.96% copper, 49.1g/t Ag and 1.4g/t Au from 363.1 metres.

The company's quarterly assay highlighted a 34.4% copper deposit, 367g/t Ag and 26.2g/t Au over 0.4 metres. This represents the highest-grade assay ever recorded at the Oracle Ridge drilling target.

As a result, Eagle Mountain is planning to expand its drilling program in Oracle three-fold, with a new program beginning in May and new geologists hired to support increasing assays.

Management comments

Eagle Mountain CEO Tim Mason said the company's results prove Oracle Ridge's potential:

The results of the field mapping undertaken at OREX during the quarter is beginning to show the sheer scale of prospective areas at Oracle Ridge. This latest field program mapped the lower contact of the Leatherwood granitic intrusive over four kilometres with abundant copper skarn across the contact.

When you look at the size of our existing resources in comparison with the scale of outcropping mineralisation, the potential scale of Oracle Ridge becomes evident.

Eagle Mountain share price snapshot

The Eagle Mountain share price has risen more than 900% from 13 cents to its current value in less than 12 months. It has also gained over 180% in the past month alone. Eagle Mountain shares have beaten the iron-ore rich basic materials sector by 730% over the past year.

In afternoon trade, the copper and gold explorer's shares are up 13% to $1.11.

Though, at one stage today, the Eagle Mountain share price was up as much as 19% to a record high of $1.17.

When its shares reached that level, it meant they were up an impressive 150% since the start of the year.

Why is the Eagle Mountain share price on fire today?

The Eagle Mountain share price was given a boost today by an update on drilling activities at its Oracle Ridge Project in Arizona, United States.

According to the release, the company is planning to accelerate exploration drilling at the project. This follows multiple strong assay and drilling results and an increasing pipeline of high priority targets within a few kilometres of the existing underground mine portals.

The company has engaged drilling contractor Boart Longyear Ltd (ASX: BLY) to supply a second drill rig, which is planned to mobilise to site by 10 May 2021.

Management commentary

Eagle Mountain's Chief Executive Officer, Tim Mason, commented: "Our recent drilling and exploration results at Oracle Ridge indicate the very strong potential for Oracle Ridge to host increased levels of mineralisation."

"We have recently completed extensive earthworks to improve access and establish suitable drill pads in preparation for our accelerated drilling program. Since commencing drilling in September 2020, more than 90% of the holes assayed outside the existing JORC Resource have intersected mineralisation above our cut-off grade."

Mr Mason also spoke about its pipeline of targets.

He explained: "We are also building a strong pipeline of targets including the recently announced high-grade copper mineralisation outcropping at the OREX prospect along a four-kilometre contact. These results give us confidence to accelerate our drilling with the aim of increasing our existing JORC Resource and evaluating the extraordinary potential of the near-mine area."

Judging by the Eagle Mountain share price performance today, some investors appear to be expecting strong results from these activities.

The company stated its assay results found the deposit and its trying to mobilise another drill rig to speed up drilling.

The Eagle Mountain share price reached a whopping 71 cents today. At the time of writing, the share price retreated slightly to 66 cents, still up 40.86%.

Let's look further into the company's assay results.

What luck!

Oracle Ridge is foremost a copper mine, but the latest assay results have found gold and silver as well. Including:

12.7m at 3.96% Cu, 49.1g/t Ag and 1.4g/t Au from 363.1m, including:

8.7m at 5.20% Cu, 66.7g/t Ag and 1.98 g/t Au, with

34.4% Cu, 367g/t Ag and 26.2g/t Au over 0.4m in massive chalcopyrite zone, the highest-grade assay ever recorded at Oracle Ridge.

14.0m at 2.1% Cu and 22.6g/t Ag from 275.0m, including:

7m at 3.16% Cu and 31.4g/t Ag.

2m overall mineralised intercept grading 1.38% Cu and 14.8g/t Ag.

Assay results are still pending for another 3 holes. Diamond drilling is also taking place to enlarge the mineral resource.

Drilling is continuing throughout the site, while contractors are improving access to other areas of the mine. The company said historical pads will be refurbished, with access tracks improved for safer, more efficient drilling operations.

Commentary from management

Eagle Mountain Mining's CEO Tim Mason said the company is excited about its discovery:

We are thrilled by the outstanding grades but also extremely pleased by the thickness of the mineralised zone at the Leatherwood contact.

I sincerely thank our dedicated geology team, including Fabio Vergara and Brian Paull, for their work which has led to this exciting discovery.

While drilling continues, we are expediting earthworks to obtain access to new drill pads, particularly in the southern area where strongly mineralised holes drilled in the 1970s have never been followed up.

Eagle Mountain share price snapshot

The Eagle Mountain Mining share price is exploding on the ASX today.

It is currently up 50% year to date, and a massive 781.25% over the last 12 months.

The company has a market capitalisation of around $85 million, with approximately 183 million shares outstanding.
