The S&P/ASX 200 Materials Index (ASX: XMJ) is lifting 1.65% today, but three ASX mining shares are outperforming the index.

The Belararox Ltd (ASX: BRX), Aurelia Metals Ltd (ASX: AMI) and Sarytogan Graphite Ltd (ASX: SGA) are all rising today.

Let's take a look at what these explorers reported today.

Aurelia Metals

The Aurelia share price is surging 19% today. Aurelia reported it has intersected the highest grades to date at the company's Federation project in NSW. One standout result was 20m at 26.8% lead and zinc, 12.5 g/t gold and 0.8% copper at drill hole FDD184W5. Commenting on the results, CEO and managing director Dan Clifford said:

The Federation drilling has been nothing short of exceptional from the discovery hole to the final hole of the current surface drilling program.

Belararox

Belararox shares are lifting 6% today. The company announced drilling intersected "massive sulphide mineralisation" at Native Bee in Lachlan Fold Belt, NSW. New intersections NBRC001 and NBRC002 contain more zinc, copper, lead, silver and gold mineralisation than forecast in historic resource modelling. Managing director Arvind Misra said: "Initial floatation concentrates increase confidence in successful commercial recovery of zinc, copper, lead and silver".

Sarytogan Graphite

Sarytogan shares are rising 20% today. This ASX mining share reported results from its first round of drilling at the Sarytogan Graphite Deposit. This is located in Central Kazakstan. Drilling intercepted with thick high-grade graphite at seven drill holes. Next, the company will continue to drill, undertake metallurgical test work and update the mineral resource. Commenting on the results, managing director Sean Gregory said:

Sarytogan is thrilled with this first round of drilling results that have exceeded expectations with broad intercepts of high-grade mineralisation in the Central Graphite Zone.

The S&P/ASX 200 Materials Index (ASX: XMJ) is down 0.11% at the time of writing, but three shares are outperforming the index on Tuesday.

The Kalium Lakes Ltd (ASX: KLL), Belararox Ltd (ASX: BRX) and Arafura Resources Ltd (ASX: ARU) shares are all steaming ahead.

Lets take a look at why these three ASX mining shares are attracting investor interest today.

Kalium Lakes Ltd (ASX: KLL)

The Kalium Lakes share price is surging 19.32% to 10.5 cents apiece at the time of writing. It's settled after jumping 25% to 11 cents earlier today. Kalium is developing the Beyondie Sulphate of Potash (SOP) Project in Western Australia. In today's news, the company advised it has validated the process chemistry and plant design for the production of about 400 tonnes of commercially saleable SOP. The company now targets commercial production in July 2022. Commenting on the news, CEO Len Jubber said:

Kalium Lakes is the first SOP producer in Australia, and we look forward to selling our first commercial production into the current extremely strong SOP price environment.

Belararox Ltd (ASX: BRX)

Belarox shares are soaring nearly 22% today. Investors appear to be buying up the mineral explorer's shares after it identified 34 new exploration targets outside the Belara and Native Bee resource areas. Belarox is exploring the Belara Project in the Lachlan Fold Belt of New South Wales. Of these targets, 11 had a combined strike of eight kilometres, eight times the known mineralisation. Belarox is searching for zinc, copper, gold, silver, nickel, and lead. The company is particularly focussed on clean energy metals, including those used in electric vehicles (EV). Commenting on the news today, managing director Arvind Misra said:

We are excited with the findings of the prospectivity modelling work and look forward to extending our knowledge with downhole EM surveys and additional targeted drilling in the highest prospective areas.

Arafura Resources Ltd (ASX: ARU)

The Arafura Resources share price is soaring 16.7% today despite no new news from the company. However, in a tweet yesterday, the rare earths explorer said it is continuing to introduce itself to "significant national and international investors". The company highlighted it presented at three conferences last week. These included the UBS Australian Emerging Companies Conference, the ALTA Presenter Breakfast, and the Austmine CEO Leadership Luncheon. Arafura is developing the Nolans Project for Neodymium-Praseodymium (NdPR) oxide in the Northern Territory. In the presentation to Austmine, Arafura highlighted the project is the only "NdPR focussed project in Australia" planning to mine and process ore to oxide at the one site. On 19 May, Arafura signed a non binding memorandum of understanding with Hyundai for the supply of NdPR oxide from the Nolans project.

Shares in the perhaps lesser-known minerals explorer Belararox Ltd (ASX: BRX) are surging 44.37% higher today and now trade at $1.025.

The gains extend a busy period for the company, where its share price has spiked 47% in the past month.

Belararox is a mineral explorer focused on securing and developing resources to meet the surge in demand from the technology, battery and renewable energy markets, according to its website.

The company first listed back in January and since then its share price has skyrocketed from 21 cents to its current levels, securing large gains for early investors.

Its projects currently span to include the potential for zinc, copper, gold, silver, nickel and lead resources, per the company.

It trades on a fully-diluted market cap of $29.04 million at the time of writing and doesn't pay a dividend.

What's behind Belararox shares lately?

Investors piled into Belararox after it announced potentially new mapped targets at its Belara project last month.

The project is set to be an asset producing copper, lead, zinc, silver and gold for the company if and when all drilling and testing outcomes are finalised.

Additional findings support the potential for additional sulphide mineralisation at further sections along the project's belly.

Following the announcement, there was an all out war between the bulls and the bears. After spiking hard to a high of $1.45, shares soon cooled off and returned to rest within the longer-term uptrend.

Investors weren't as galvanised when the company followed up with another announcement on 30 March noting that a gravity survey had confirmed the results above.

In fact, in the days following, there's been a correction in the Belararox share price. Nevertheless, the company is back in favour today and has printed a 44% gain.

Since listing earlier this year, the Belararox share price has soared 413% into the green, much to the delight of initial shareholders.

2022 has been a milestone year for the share price of battery metals focused ASX newbie Belararox Ltd (ASX: BRX).

The minerals explorer only recently listed on the index, floating on 28 January after offering its shares for 20 cents apiece under its initial public offering (IPO).

That means initial investors have likely had their socks blown off between then and now.

At the time of writing, the Belararox share price is $1.20 – 500% more than the company's IPO offer price.

That's despite the stock suffering a 14.48% tumble in Friday's session and slipping another 2.82% today.

So, what's the latest news from the battery metals explorer? Let's take a look.

What's been going on with this ASX battery metals share?

The Belararox share price has had a rollercoaster performance over the last few days.

The stock surged through the middle of last week, amping up its performance on Wednesday and Thursday, gaining approximately 18% on both days.

Then, on Friday, it suffered a downturn, tumbling around 14.5%.

So, what's been driving the zinc, copper, gold, silver, nickel, and lead explorer's stock over the last few sessions? It appears to be news of Belararox's Belara Project.

The company announced it had mapped potentially significant new targets at the project on Wednesday.

The additional targets seemingly support the company's expectation that the project is home to greater resources than previously noted.

The project was previously found to house copper, lead, zinc, silver, and gold.

A gradient array IP survey was responsible for finding the new targets.

They include the potential for extensions to the massive sulphide mineralisation at the project's Belara and Native Bee mines. The survey also identified a new kilometre-long anomaly to the south of Native Bee.

The ASX-listed battery metals explorer's managing director Arvind Misra said the newly identified strike extensions and targets will be tested by drilling. Misra continued:

The intention of our maiden drill campaign is to upgrade the existing resource at Belara. We feel there is immense inherent value within Belara that is not currently encapsulated by the historical resource, and we look forward to systemically exploring to reveal that potential. It appears our drill rigs will remain busy beyond the current program.

The Belararox share price is back in the red today despite the broader market's gains.

Right now, the ASX battery metals explorer's stock is trading at $1.20, 2.8% lower than its previous close.

Meanwhile, the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO) has gained 0.21% and the All Ordinaries Index (ASX: XAO) is up 0.17%.
