Engineering business Worley Ltd (ASX: WOR) has announced that it has been awarded a contract for the first Egyptian nuclear power plant.

The Nuclear Power Plants Authority has awarded a consultation services contract to implement the nuclear power plant project at El Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast, west of Alexandria.

This nuclear power plant will have four pressurised water reactors with a nameplate capacity of 4,800 MW.

The services provided will include technical support in engineering and design review, project management, construction management, training, procedure development, quality assurance, commissioning and related activities.

Worley has been working with NPAA since 2009 and this contract extends the relationship to the end of 2030.

The CEO of Worley Andrew Wood said: "As Australia's leading energy services company, we are pleased to continue our relationship with NPPA and help Egypt develop its nuclear industry to meet the world's changing energy needs."

However, the Worley share price fell around 0.5% today despite this positive news.
